A huge congratulations to CARES Lab member Jullye Ponsoni on successfully defending her undergraduate thesis! Jullye’s research explored the effectiveness of neuropsychological interventions on executive functions in Parkinson’s disease, an important contribution to the field of psychology and neuropsychology.
Jullye studied in the Department of Psychology at Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil, and in summer 2024, she joined the CARES Lab as part of the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship program. During her time at Memorial University, she worked on a study exploring the lived experiences of gender-based violence among disabled women in Newfoundland and Labrador, bringing dedication, curiosity, and a deep commitment to impactful research. It was an honour to work with Jullye last summer, and we’re so proud of all she has accomplished.
In Jullye’s beautiful acknowledgments, she expressed deep gratitude to the professors, mentors, friends, and even her cat Branquela (who absolutely deserves an honorary degree for all those study sessions!) that supported her along the way. It has been a privilege to be a small part of her journey, and we have no doubt that she will continue to make an impact in the field of psychology.
Parabéns, Jullye! Wishing you all the best in this next chapter.
