We’re excited to share an upcoming presentation through the Research & Knowledge Exchange on Critical Disability Studies:
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Friday, May 22, 2026
12:30–2:00 PM Newfoundland Time
Via Zoom (please register)
This session explores how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can be implemented in practice through both community-based and research-informed approaches. Presenters will share the development and first year of implementation of the UDL Community of Practice NL, along with strategies for fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and more accessible and responsive teaching across contexts.
The session will also introduce the UDL Community of Practice website, which brings together recorded sessions and practical resources, and share insights from a recent study on student experiences in a UDL-informed undergraduate course. Together, the presentation aims to open up conversations about participation, engagement, accessibility, and how disability is understood and supported in education and practice.
Presenters:
• Dr. Ami Goulden — Assistant Professor, School of Social Work, Memorial University
• Jordan Hollahan — PhD Candidate, Department of Archaeology, Memorial University
• Mariela Calderon Muñoz — Mitacs Globalink Intern and undergraduate student in Educational Management and Curriculum Administration at Universidad Tecnológica El Retoño (México)
All are welcome to attend.
